Safety: Do not leave drinks un-attended in bars and hotels. Be careful with valuables and avoid being out alone at night.
Metro service around Santo Domingo, mostly used by commuters. A good network of coach and minivan bus services and get around the country.
Hire of vehicles is ideal if wanting to get to less common places
