Egypt has a large population of over 115,000 million people in an area of approx 1 million square kilometers. Egypt has the second largest economy in Africa. The dominant religion is Sunni Islam.

Language: Arabic, with several vernacular dialects
Visa: An evisa for shorter visits is available for people from a large number of countries but check for your own specific requirements. The Evisa must be applied for at least 7 days in advance of your travel.
Power: 220 volts AC. Plug types C & F
Safety: Egypt is generally a safe place for tourists but in crowded area’s petty theft can occur and scams are becoming more common. Keep an eye on the political situation occurring elsewhere in the middle east.
Flights are a convenient way to get between some destinations in Egypt as distances can be large and travel slow. Trains can also be useful for long haul destinations, for short haul there are ride share apps, taxis and buses.

Climate in Egypt is hot desert which is characterised by long, hot & dry summers and then mild winters with little rain. Along the Mediterranean Coast the climate is more similar to a mediterranean climate and therefore wetter in winter.
