Dubai 3 Day Stopover

SHORT STAY

Dubai was not really on our list but worth a look as we have to go through it anyway.

The main sights we wanted to see where the Miracle Garden, Butterfly Garden, Souks and the Sand Dune and Dance trip.

Within a short while of arriving and going to the supermarket I realised that it did not feel great to be a blond woman in Dubai – I was the whole time constantly stared at and it was not a great feeling.

Anyway on with the touring – wandering round the Souks was really interesting and we enjoyed the sights.

Getting  around Dubai on trains was not so easy – every station we got off at ended up being in the middle of a massive shopping centre that it then took you up to an hour to find your way out of.  Frustrating if you (like us) do not like shopping.  Still we made it to the gardens and they were  both really interesting, although not quite what I had expected.

Getting around Dubai is amazing to see how much building is going on – Cranes as far as the eye can see.

In general everything was very expensive but we did find one lovely restaurant in the Indian area that was reasonably priced and lovely.

The sand dune part of the tour was a little disappointing as there were so many cars – we have had more fun on sand dunes in Australia (higher dunes, less people).  The evening dinner and dance though was fantastic.  The setting was amazing and the Whirling Dervish was just incredible, the best dance I have ever seen.  Great evening altogether.

We will not go back to Dubai as not really our cup of tea, but could be good if you like man made things and lots of shopping. Alcohol is very expensive and even harder to get in Dubai, so if you want some take it with you.
